Toto’s Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie caught my eye with its emphasis on clean ingredients: gluten-free, vegan, and free of seed oils. Wahoo!
And, okay, I also love the vibrant, playful branding. As an almond butter lover, I absolutely adored that almond butter was the first ingredient. It’s a welcome break from the usual refined flours, adding a rich, nutty flavor and providing a dose of healthy fats.
The cookie itself had a wonderful, soft texture and was generously packed with chocolate chips, with just the right sprinkle of sea salt. However, if there’s a downside, it’s that I personally found it a tad too sugary, though I’m probably in the minority on that.
My 17-year-old son polished off the rest of my cookie and declared he’d be thrilled to take the remainder of the box.
A bit disappointing, though, that a serving size is only half a cookie. If I were really hooked, I’d easily devour a whole one, which would pack in 20 grams of sugar. Yikes! It’s mostly coconut sugar, which is a fantastic choice, while the chips also use cane sugar, but 20 grams still feels like quite a bit for one sitting.
All in all, this cookie is a great choice for anyone craving a sweet indulgence with that irresistible soft texture, balanced by the perfect sprinkle of sea salt. Just be mindful of the serving size and enjoy it occasionally.
I’ll definitely keep an eye on this brand, especially considering the inspiring story of its owner’s healing journey from Crohn’s disease.
